South End Schools

How does the 5 year plan intend to resolve the geographical divide?

It appears that the recent proposals to close schools and limit choice seem to reinforce the disparities between north and south Seattle schools. From my vantage point, the district is supporting north Seattle schools at the expense of South seattle schools. This is not on track with the stated 5 year plan goals.

How does SPS intend to make south Seattle schools as desirable and high performing as north Seattle ones?   Is it a concern to the district?   If so, how does the 5 year plan address it?

The purpose of the Five-Year Plan is to create high achieving schools in the south and north geographical areas of the city.  The five goals of the Plan are evidence of the District's concern for all students: (1) improve instruction; (2) eliminate the achievement gap; (3) eliminate systemic barriers to learning; (4) improve leadership; and (5) better manage district resources.  Plan strategies provide an outline of "how" the District will achieve the goals over the next five years.
